One Family: Big Difference

One Family: Big Difference

Donny* came into our care in January 2015 because his living conditions were unsafe, due to abuse and neglect. He had been diagnosed with several developmental disorders, which made his situation even more complex. However, thanks to a very special family who decided to open up their home (and their hearts) to him for the last 6 years, he has absolutely excelled.

Donny has participated in Mid-Michigan Industries (MMI) and worked two full days a week at a local factory. He has been able to create strong connection both at work and at home. Donny has worked hard to gain independent living skills and has drastically improved these over time. He attends the clubhouse every week where he is able to help around the building and practice these skills, such as paying bills, money management, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, etc.. Donny has reached a level where he can complete these tasks with redirection and minimal supervision. He has also worked to improve contact with his biological family and seeks to understand the history that led to his placement. We are so proud of what you have accomplished and all the things you can do, Donny!
