Providing Temporary Care in a Family Setting

The Foster Care program provides temporary, emergency, long-term care by trained, licensed, and caring families. All homes licensed through Listening Ear receive initial and ongoing training and are closely monitored and supported by our Foster Care Professionals. We serve children newborn to age 17. These children may have developmental, physical, medical, emotional, or behavioral challenges. They may also be challenged by problems with their own families. The children are provided foster care in a family setting so that the support they receive is in the most natural environment.

Listening Ear has been licensed by the State of Michigan as a child placement agency since 1981. Referrals are accepted through Community Mental Health Boards, Department of Human Services, Family or Trial Courts, or Listening Ear’s Runaway Youth Program. Fees are determined on a case-by-case basis. Services are available 24 hours every day.

Listening Ear’s Foster Care Program is seeking families in Mid and Northwestern Michigan who might be interested in providing foster care for youth. The Program is especially in need of families who can provide a supportive home setting for older children. All of our contracted foster families are provided training. In addition, Foster Care professionals maintain contact each week providing ongoing support.
